Introduction
This article defines the supported methods for enrolling computers and mobile devices into the datajar.mobi managed service. This applies to the below hardware and software:
- Supported computers running macOS
- Supported mobile devices running iOS, iPadOS and tvOS
Supported device enrolment methods for computers
dataJAR supports the following methods for enrolling computers:
- Automated Device Enrolment (ADE) is required for all computers when:
- Your reseller is able to assign it to your Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager instance.
- The computer has an Intel T2 or Apple Silicon processor - use Apple Configurator on an iPhone or iPad to assign the computer to your Apple School Manager or Apple Business Manager instance without involvement from your reseller.
- User Initiated Enrolment (UIE, and also referred to as Device Enrolment [DE]) is supported when:
- The computer has an Intel processor without the T2 coprocessor, and your reseller is unable to assign it to your Apple School Manager or Apple Business Manager instance.
Please note that dataJAR does not provide or support User Initiated Enrolment for computers outside of the above limitations.
Supported device enrolment methods for mobile devices
dataJAR only supports Automated Device Enrolment (ADE) for mobile devices through your Apple School Manager or Apple Business Manager instance. Your reseller can assign mobile devices to your Apple School Manager or Apple Business Manager instance, or you can do this yourself using Apple Configurator on a Mac.
Please note that dataJAR does not provide or support Device Enrolment or User Enrolment for mobile devices.
