Introduction
For our datajar.mobi customers, we take on the responsibility of delivering a continuous device management experience. Part of this is managing some key integrations with our platform and also Apple's deployment programmes: Apple Business Manager and Apple School Manager.
Apple's deployment programmes are designed to manage volume software licensing via the App Store and Mac App Store, as well as device assignments to Mobile Device Management systems.
In order for software to be deployed and devices to be assigned to datajar.mobi, a unique token is required for each which requires annual renewal. Failure to renew this token will impact the services you receive. You have the option for us to manage this for you, or you will need to supply the information when it is requested.
It is important to highlight that we do not under any circumstances manage device assignments or software licenses, including the procurement of free or paid licenses from Apple. This is the responsibility of the organisation's assigned Technical Account Administrator(s).
Setup a new Location
When you sign up for Apple Business Manager / Apple School Manager, the first location is automatically created and reflects your organisation name. We require a separate location to manage devices and software. To do this, please complete the following using these details:
Location name: customerID.datajar.mobi
(your customerID will be provided to you during onboarding)
Obtaining your content token
To enable datajar.mobi to deploy software to your managed device, please ensure you supply (when requested) your content token:
Adding an MDM server
To enable datajar.mobi to manage and deploy devices, you must first add the MDM service to your Apple Business Manager / Apple School Manager instance. In order to do this, you must first request your Public Key which will be provided to you during your onboarding process. Please see the following articles:
Setup and token renewals
If you need help and require us to manage your setup and token renewals, we will gladly support you with this. To do this, you will need to create a Managed Apple ID (MAID) with the following details and ensure you send the sign-in information via email:
Email address: customerID@datajar.co.uk
(your customerID will be provided to you during onboarding)
