What should I do if I have lost a Mac?
If you have lost a Mac that is enrolled into datajar.mobi, please ensure you alert our support team as soon as possible by following these steps:
- Launch Simplified Management for macOS or iOS/iPadOS and locate the device concerned. Within the notes field, please state that the device is missing along with any other detail such as a crime reference number and click ‘save’.
- From within Simplified Management, raise a support incident containing your contact details and any other relevant information.
- Our support team will then have all the information they require to push a device lock command to the hardware. We will log the state of the device, such as encryption status and last known network address.
- The device will remain in the datajar.mobi service until you request for the device to be removed.
- It is important the device be unassigned from your Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager. You can obtain the serial number from Simplified Management.
I have found my Mac, what should I do?
If you have found your Mac or it has been returned to you, please complete the following:
- Contact our support team and request the device lock code and enter this code on your Mac to unlock it.
- Launch Simplified Management for macOS or iOS/iPadOS and locate your device and remove any notes that had been entered and click ‘save’.
- It is important the device be reassigned from your Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager. You can obtain the serial number from Simplified Management.
What should I do if I have lost an iPhone or iPad?
If you have lost an iPhone or iPad that is enrolled into datajar.mobi, please ensure you alert the support team as soon as possible by following these steps.
- Launch Simplified Management for macOS or iOS/iPadOS and find the device concerned. Within the notes field, please state that the device is missing along with any other detail such as a crime reference number and click ‘save’.
- From within Simplified Management, click on the cog and select ‘Enable Lost Mode’ - you will have the option of adding a custom message to the lock screen of the device at this point.
- After a short while, you will be able to see the location of the device (if the device is online) from within Simplified Management.
- From within Simplified Management, raise a support incident containing your contact details and any other relevant information.
- The device will remain in the datajar.mobi service until you request for the device to be removed.
I have found my iPhone or iPad, what should I do?
If you have found the device or it has been returned to you, please complete the following:
- Launch Simplified Management for macOS or iOS/iPadOS and locate the lost device.
- Remove any notes that had been entered and click ‘save’.
- Click on the cog and select ‘Disable Lost Mode’.
- Please notify our support team the device has been located.
