Introduction
This article is designed for customers who are leaving the datajar.mobi service, and details the off-boarding process and its stages.
Firstly, we would recommend that all managed devices are unassigned from datajar.mobi in your Apple Business / School Manager, they are then wiped/erased and (if appropriate) enrolled in your intended replacement management solution. This will ensure devices are returned to a 'known' state before then being re-enrolled using Apple's Automated Device Enrolment Program (ADE, previously known as DEP) ensuring they obtain User-Approved MDM and Supervised statuses.
For devices that this does not apply to, we will run through a full off-boarding process upon the expiry of your datajar.mobi contract.
iOS / iPadOS / tvOS
- Configuration Profiles (excluding Wi-Fi), will be removed. *
- VPP delivered apps (apps from the Apple App Store) will be removed.
- Any deployed In-House Apps and In-House Books will be removed.
- Once the above has been completed on all active devices, any Wi-Fi Configuration Profiles that were deployed will also be removed.
- Any content filtering will also be removed.
*Removal of profiles will not always revert settings, for example of a profile forced the use of a Passcode. This Passcode will still be set but not enforced.
macOS
- Configuration Profiles (excluding Wi-Fi and some other items), will be removed. *
- VPP delivered apps (apps from the Apple App Store) will be removed.
- Any deployed In-House Apps and/or In-House Books will be removed.
- All Auto-Update titles that have been deployed will be removed.
- If the Mac is not DEP enrolled, it will be fully unmanaged from datajar.mobi. If not, it will have just the MDM profile installed*. All outstanding Configuration Profiles will be removed regardless.
- Any content filtering will also be removed.
* Removal of profiles will not always revert device settings. An example of this is a profile forcing the use of a Passcode. This Passcode will still be set, but not enforced.
Device Next Steps
Your iOS/iPadOS/tvOS devices will next need to be wiped and reprovisioned onto your new solution.
DEP enrolled macOS devices will need to be wiped too, and then reprovisioned as above.
Non-DEP enrolled macOS devices can be enrolled into your new MDM, however we recommend wiping these devices too incase any artefacts are left which may hinder their further use.
iOS Activation Lock Bypass Codes and macOS Recovery Keys are not exportable, and so are not included in this process.
Once your datajar.mobi service is terminated these items will not be accessible without reinstatement of service.
Accelerator Appliance
If you have any Accelerator Appliances, these will have datajar.mobi content removed and after termination the VM can be deleted from your HyperVisor.
Deployment Programmes
All VPP licenses will be revoked and the token in use in datajar.mobi will be removed. This will allow you to use this token in your new MDM and/or assign all licenses to a new token in Apple Business/School Manager.
If you are an Educational institute and making use of the Education applications and rostering information from your MIS/SIS, this will be removed from datajar.mobi. This will also remove the ability for Managed Apple IDs to log into Shared (Personalised) iPads.
Any DEP PreStages will have all members removed, and then the DEP token will be removed from datajar.mobi.
