Introduction
Jamf Auto Update Catalog Browser is an application which can be used to browse the latest titles and versions included in the Jamf Auto Update catalog, as well as give details on any additional resources available or workflows applicable to that title.
This is an application developed by Jamf, and is provided as part of the Jamf Auto Update subscription.
If your organisation has a datajar.mobi Fully Managed or Hybrid subscription, please review the titles available within the Jamf Auto Update Catalog article and request that they are added to your datajar.mobi instance via: https://support.datajar.co.uk/hc/en-us/requests/new.
Requirements
- Jamf Auto Update Catalog Browser should be installed on one or more of your administration Macs during the initial installation of Jamf Auto Update. If it is not, please review and complete the steps within the Jamf Auto Update - Installation Guide before proceeding.
- The administration Mac needs to have Jamf Auto Update installed on the device.
- The user launching the Jamf Auto Update Catalog Browser app needs to be an administrator on the administration Mac.
Usage
On Launch
Launch the Jamf Auto Update Catalog Browser app from within /Applications.
Upon launching, you should be presented with a window giving a list of titles and the top of the window looking similar to that shown below:
You can simply scroll down the list of titles, select a title, and then press ⌘C to copy the Jamf Auto Update Name to be used within a Jamf Auto Update policy.
Search
The Search box can be used to search the list of titles, this will bring back one or many titles depending on the search criteria.
Below is an example when searching for "Microsoft":
You can select a title from the sub list of titles, then press ⌘C to copy the Jamf Auto Update Name to be used within a Jamf Auto Update policy.
Headers
The headers underneath the Search box and their uses are as follows:
- Display Name - The more readable name for a title, and the name shown when installing on devices.
- Jamf Auto Update Name - The name of the title needed for an Jamf Auto Update policy.
- Version - The version of the title.
- Min OS - Lowest OS version with which this item is compatible.
- Max OS - Highest OS version with which this item is compatible.
- Required Processor - This column denotes if a title can only be deployed to a Mac device with an Apple Silicon or Intel processor. There may be duplicate entries for a title with one requiring one processor over another. However, when creating an Jamf Auto Update policy, you can just use the same Jamf Auto Update Name regardless.
- Resources - An asterisk (*) within the resources column denotes that there are additional resources available for the title in question. Details on these resources for all titles shown within the main window can be exported by selecting Window > Export or by using the ⌘E keyboard shortcut. This will generate a .csv file, such as the example below:
The following are explanations for the headers within the exported file:
- More Info - Link to a page giving more information about a title, which might include licensing workflow details or deployment caveats, and so on.
- License - A license workflow is available, this may be detailed within the 'More Info' link. If not, raise a new support incident by visiting: https://support.datajar.co.uk/hc/en-us/requests/new.
